Astoria is a large commercial and residential neighborhood next to the East River, Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside. Astoria offers mid-level price-points for those looking for housing, which is a mix of brick and frame homes, walk-ups and new condo developments – but prices are rising. The neighborhood is generally filled with multi-generational families as well as a new younger artistic crowd, who are attracted by the proximity to the City, the low scale of the neighborhood, as well as the vibrant street life.

Fun Facts

It took almost 100 years to make the Second Avenue Subway a reality. The line was originally proposed in 1919, and the first phase of the line (from 72nd to 96th) was not opened until January 1, 2017.
