Larchmont is a village within the Town of Mamaroneck. Nestled between the Long Island Sound, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle and Scarsdale, Larchmont is a popular place for many New Yorkers to live. Many are drawn by the quick commute to New York City, well regarded schools, and views of the Long Island Sound.
Recently ranked by Bloomberg as one of the wealthiest places in New York, Larchmont attracts many who appreciate beautiful pre-war Colonials and Victorians that have been lovingly maintained and restored over the years. South of the Metro-North train station, there are restaurants, boutiques, and a movie theater. Also near the train station are condos and co-op apartments. The homes get larger the closer you get to the Long Island Sound.
Commute to Grand Central via Metro North
Larchmont, once a resort community and getaway for NYC dwellers, became one of the earliest suburbs in the United States after the invention of the automobile. Given its close proximity to New York City, it quickly became a place to live for wealthy individuals commuting to and from New York City for work on a daily basis. The oldest home in Larchmont is known as the “Manor House” on Elm Avenue. It was built in 1797. Many of the Victorian “cottages” and hotels are still intact, although they have generally been converted to other uses, including private homes.
What We Love
Pick up Stanz’ for lunch and enjoy the views at Manor Park. The best of both worlds – access to nature and calm, while only a quick ride on the train to the city.
