NoMad

NoMad

NoMad, North of Madison Square Park, is bounded by 26th Street, 32nd Street, 6th Avenue and Park Avenue and includes much of the Madison Square North Historic District. The 2009 opening of the Ace Hotel on Broadway and 29th Street was a catalyst of Nomad’s transformation from a once derelict commercial district into a hip residential, culinary and nightlife destination. NoMad is a busy neighborhood, with lots of foot traffic during the day, particularly at the northern part of the neighborhood.

The real estate market is largely defined by pricey high rise new development and gorgeous old prewar loft buildings. Subway access is terrific, so traveling around the City is easy.

Fun Facts

The neighborhood deteriorated throughout in the mid and late twentieth century, as t-shirt, luggage, perfume and jewelry wholesalers began lining the storefronts along Broadway from Madison Square to Herald Square. In the last few years, the wholesalers are being driven out, and Broadway is on an upswing.
